True
To whom it may concern,
The sun cannot always shine,
Lest in it, we would lose our joy.
And if a true friend was easy to find,
Would there be value in a diamond mind?
If no one was deaf and no one was blind,
Many inspiring tales would be lost.
And sadly, life bids good people goodbye,
So Sorrow can teach fools to be wise.
The beauty of life is not always obvious.
Only the honest of heart see below the surface,
They dissect experiences to find what was amiss,
So Mistake’s lessons, one would not miss.
Good and bad people run with you in this race,
Each one leaving their mark on your life.
Only some chosen few in your heart find a place,
Take care who you keep and who you replace.
A true friend will uplift your soul ‘till the end,
Not just your heart, mind, or pride.
True love is only between two true friends,
With whom nothing done or said is pretend.
Each of us, a vessel keeps,
Refilled each day with time.
How efficient are your days and weeks?
Are precious minutes lost through leaks?
For things that count, how much do you put away,
Does the water splash out ‘cause you’re running so fast?
Do you realize at the last minute you’ve forgotten to pray,
And to say things like, “I love you,” and “Are you okay?”
Don’t ever, ever forget to care.
Someday when you’re weary, and sad,
You’ll find that true friend will be standing right there,
Because they’ve been there. The air
Still carries their cry, they’ve been to war too,
And they understand.
You probably don’t know all that they’ve been through.
Take a moment and notice, who’s been leaning on you?
Be true.
When you hear someone singing, listen to their song.
Hear the words, see the picture they paint.
To good, tune your ears; ignore the voices of wrong.
Learn from the music in the hearts of the strong.
Just slow down and listen to the sound of your voice.
Does your smile have in it heart and mind intertwined?
Look for wisdom while yet you have a chance and a choice,
For the one who truth and love understands, is the one who can truly rejoice.
-Love from,
