Wolf’s Wool

It glistens.
Moisture reflects the light.
Steam ascends and is swallowed by cold,
I discern this sight.

An irreversible reaction,
To such as adheres to the window.
As evaporation claims
The last remnants of snow.

Chilled silence cushions the scene.
The black beast, in all its might,
Is illuminated;
Victim of the sunlight.

Its icy blanket is shed,
While the others,
In darkness, are still
Cloaked in cold.

Inevitably, one so proud,
And to others, apparently white,
Should reveal its true colours,
Under the pressure and heat of the spotlight.
